The hood on my 87 looks as if it doesnt close all the way. It sits to high near the windshield on both sides. I adjusted the bump stops, but that did nothing. Checked the archives and really didnt see anything about it there. Can I adjust the studs and springs at the hood itself? If I tighten them, will this cause the hood to sit lower in the rear? This "hood unlatched" look is going to drive me crazy!

Re: hood to high when closed (soundkillr)
 I had similar problem, required adjustment of the hood latch "pins"
(they are the piece that goes down into the latch. Vibration and in one case a broken weld on the nut behind the plate, caused these pins to "lengthen"
Even though hood was locked, the pins kept it too high.
Back off on the rubber stops and adjust the "pins" a little at a time. Screwdriver and box wrench or waterpumps required.
It the "pin" is loose or turns freely, remove the plate and pin assembly from the hood and check to see the nut behind it is still welded to the plate.
My wording not withstanding, all will be clear and obvious once you look at it
Re adjust the rubber stops once the hood fits properly
Great! Thanks so much! I thought the adjustment would be in those pins, but with that spring I didnt want to really try that just yet. So, Ill loosen the lock nut, and turn the pin clockwise, to make it shorter? I am going to give this a try first thing in the morning. Hopefully my hood will still open! :D
Thanks again!
Don't adjust those things too much or the hood is hard to reopen. Just do it in increments til you get what you need. (don't ask me how I know this)
Hey Cabo! Long time no talk! Hope all is well with you! Thanks so much everyone for all the advice. I cant wait to try to get that fixed! Been driving me crazy!
