Sounds fair. Looking further into the repair history of my car, my father did have the filter and fluid changed but not every annum or 12K miles as suggested. Looks like I will be doing that soon then....my Gold-C4 is showing almost 95K on the clock.

Like most folks here I also use it mainly on the highway, and always use the clutch when engaging OD.

As suggested in other posts use Mobil 1 ATF when you change the OD fluid.

Just like GM eliminated the engine oil cooler with the use of synthetic oil I think using a synthetic ATF like Mobil 1 ATF will let the 4+3 run cooler and longer. My recently sold 85 worked fine for the 15 years I owned it with the Mobil 1 ATF. I also use it in my 88 4+3 and also only use the OD on the highway.
I think the best thing you can do for the 4+3 is to use the synthetic ATF.
