Boy did I screw up this weekend. Was pulling into a parking lot and as I was turning I ran over a curb with the front and rear wheel on the passenger side. :cuss When I got home I lifted the car to see the damage I had done, no visible front end damage, no rocker panel damage, a little fracture on the passenger storage bin and I did bend the front wheel a little. Wow, not nearly as bad as I thought and as is sounded. The worst damage was the bent rear lower shock mount. Does anyone know the part number for this mount? It seems to be a long bolt comming through the aluminum knuckle and the shock slides on. Called the parts counter, they weren't much help. Mid America doesn't carry it. Anyone know?
Also, my steering is not as tight as before the curb. Would this problem be in the rack and pinion or a tie end rod? Ball joint? What's the best guess on front end damage? Would a simple alignment fix this?
Re: HELP Lower shock mount------> part number? HELP (CFI-EFI)
I didn't think an alignment would help. Does anyone else have a little play in their steering on these older cars or are they real tight? My car only has 70k miles on it. Should it have a little play at this age and mileage? Thanks for the part number.
Re: HELP Lower shock mount------> part number? HELP (89Corvette6spdFX3)
I rechecked my parts book, and for once, I didn't typo. My book is old and the number could be superseded, but it shouldn't go to a lock. I show that lock as a 10074165 or 10074166, depending on how complete you want it.
If it helps, the item you want is in group, 7.347. The part description is: "88-89...Y...14105141...2...9.75...STUD, RR S/ABS". The first is the years, the "Y" means Corvette, the 2 is the quantity per car, the 9.75 is the list price when the book was printed in 4/89, and the rest is the nomenclature. Maybe the group number will help. Maybe a different dealer is worth a shot. Good luck, and...
