Default Broken cupholder lid.. HELP!

My 2-year-old daughter was crawling around in my car while I was puzzling with my broken power window. She stepped on the little door covering the cup holders... the one with the metal plaque on it... she broke something inside there. Now I can't get the door to operate smoothly at all(adding insult to injury). Is there a way to fix this? It seems fragile to begin with so my assumption is that this is a common problem.

Well... It is "Technical" is it not? Idunno... I'm new here. I guess the General forum would have been more appropriate.

I'm sorry man... I was just jerking your chain. That's one of the funniest titles I've ever seen on this board.

I hope someone can help you out.

Absolutely no offense taken... Now that I look at it... It IS sorta funny... Compared to all the other post titles. Glad I could supply a laugh. I hear they extend ones life

The door IS quite irritating though... Everything else on the car is near perfect... excepte the passenger side window motor

Are you sure it's the motor? It could be the switch if you can get it to work from the drivers side... but I'm sure you have already checked that.

If it's the motor and it needs to be replaced, call Contemporary Corvettes in Pennsylvania. Look them up on google and go to their website. As I think of it it might http://www.contemporarycorvette.com

As for your cupholer door, there are 2 small springs on the door. You could have had one or both come off. Not a hard fix. Hardest part is getting the center console cover off. You need to remove the trans gear selector **** and a bunch of bolts. Once off, it is easy to fix the lid.

What difference does it make if it's a real "Tech or Performance" question or not?

I don't see any "Dashboard/Cup holder" topics on the board.

The reason we all do this forum thing is to help fellow C4 owners, not to make them feel like crap when they leave here.

On your question glerma, let's assume the worst-case scenario in that the tabs that the metal cover over the cupholder/ashtray pivots on, are broken. You could glue them with special poly-propolene glue (hard to find) but they would still be weak. It's best to replace the shifter-plate panel. I buy used dash panels all the time off EBay for $15-$25 depending on condition just in case they get scarce someday. If you really aren't into painting and repairing, you'll want a new panel. The cheapest place I've found anywhere for new OEM parts is Brasington GM, on-line. They sell for 20% over their cost on any part available. This amounts to about a 40% savings over retail Chevy. http://www.gmotors.com

This may not be the best help in the world for your problem but at least I treated you with the respect due a fellow C4 owner.

Hey Big Jim... why don't you take a chill pill. :chill: You have to admit... that title is pretty funny.

As for treating other members with respect, give me a break. I have been on this board for over 5 years and haven't gotten out of line once, lost any points or ridiculed other members.

All I was saying was this could have been posted on the General Board as it doesn't really pertain to performance. As you can see, I had 2 other conversations with this gentleman in this thread and he and I are cool.

I consider C4 Tech fine for this post, as well as any other asking on how to repair broken parts. C4 General is more suited to what everyone's favorite C4 color is or the latest C4 gold chains. :jester
