Is anybody running the opti-direct system from delteq http://www.delteq.com ?
Should I stick with the Crane HI-6, Taylor Spiro-Pro wires, and Crane coil? Or do you think it is worth the switch to this system. The coils mount on a bracket on the driver side valve cover, and the system is complete, with plug in harnesses and custom length plug wires.
Drop me an e-mail in about 3 weeks and I will let you know. I ordered it before I had to go leave on business to Saudi Arabia and my wife says the unit and coils are in, as well as my Stainless Long tubes. You can save some money by buying thier kit and geting the coils off e-bay (I saved about $100). The mian problem with opti is the rotor and cap, both of which are not used with the Delteq system. I have the 95+ vented opti but if you have the older stayle then I would do the vent mod as well.
I have had it for about 4 months. Like you said it is a complete kit that can be installed in few hours. It is almost worth the purchase price just to have the spark plug wires accessable! Of course you also have the benefit of by-passing the opti-crap's high voltage side.
One other LT4 owner on Corvette Forum recently installed his too.
This looks better than the other solutions out there because you can can actually hook it up in such a manner as to completely remove the opti.
Most opti problems I've personally encountered have been signal related, not distributor. Thus to me any system that still uses the opti signal is no better off. This looks like a much better solution.

Not sure what you mean about completely removing the opti. As far as I know you can't remove the opti with this or the LTCC system. This system as well as the LTCC just removes the high voltage inside the opti which is why most all fail. The Delteq has an option that replaces the optical sensor inside whereas the LTCC does not.

very true
I noticed that the car felt like it had a tune up. You know a little more torque. One other member noticed a smoother idle.
One other thing. The support of their product is REALLY good! Very helpful!
I installed the Delteq about a month ago in pursuit of my high rpm miss. Had always wanted to rid myself of the opti cap & rotor issues and get better plug wire access. The Delteq fit the bill on both counts and in the future it's supposed to be upgradable to eliminate the optical portion of the Opti as well.
The nice thing about the Delteq is it's a "plug and play" kit. I think the LTCC is another excellent choice, but it requires some fabrication. If time is short as it was in my case, that wasn't an option.
Lastly, Delteq's customer support has been nothing short of outstanding. Pete at Delteq has been helping with my miss. Sure, they have a vested interest to insure their product works, but he's gone waaaaay above and beyond what anyone could reasonably expect.
I'll be on the track (road course) Friday so I'll see how it holds up under the continous stress of 20 minute lapping sessions.
