I finally got all the idle bugs worked out and the comp cam pro magnums adjusted down (decided it was easier to adjust them with the engine running, messy but effective) and the computer aparrantly went into learn mode because the idle gradually smoothed out. My situation now, is the final tuning, she idles rich and at cruise speed it lopes a little. I am wondering where to go from here. The idle is rock solid @ 900 (Auto) and sounds mean, real mean. The cam really opens up around 3000 rpm (unlike stock) and it shifts @ 5500 which seems like it is too soon, considering how hard this puppy is pulling! Will a chip re-burn correct this shift and/or rich idle? I am using a hypertech thermomaster2 with 160 degree stadt. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. Heck, I am on the learning curve here! I want to max out this set-up. Oh yeah, I believe a 3.73 gear change would help too. Your thoughts? I only have the 1.6 RR's, ported intake, lt-4 cam.
:auto:
Well I will answer 1 of your questions. The WOT shift is controlled by the transmission govenor on 93 and earlier. 94 and up are by the computer. I got ski-down-it to reprogram my chip.
With the hot cam you are definitely going to need a chip reburn..
The chip reburn will fix the rich idle, spark advance, overall fuel maps (at various RPMs) among other things.. Make sure you have an experienced tuner do your work for you (sounds like Ski-down-it is the guy to go to around here.. :) have heard good things about him..).
Thats good news, I would definately like to fine tune this set-up. If anyone is wondering about the hot cam pulling strong, forget about it. It pulls hard and sounds even better. Not sure if it what some racers would like, but for a car that drives on the street on weekends it's just perfect. :hurray:
Does your car have a PCM or ECM? I believe 93 was a split year meaning you may have an electronic shift trans. Either way shift manuely @ 6K and get your car programmed by SKI and all will be well.

All 93 vettes were ECM controlled. But if you want to check your car for sure, check to see if it has a TV cable going from the trans up to the ASR control.
