The 85 seems quite different than my 87, so I need some help. Is there a vacuum line diagram in the 85 service manual? If someone would be willing to fax or mail it to me, I'd be forever greatful :)
Or, please look at the following pictures and help me figure out where each of these belongs.
1. This is what I think is the EGR vac switch. One leg appears to go to the fuel charcol canister, the other to the EGR valve. My question is how and where does this mount??? It has an angled bracket but I can't see how it would mount where it looks like it should. Please tell me how this is on yours:
2. This looks like it should plug into the plenum vac adapter. One of the two located at the rear passenger side of the plenum. I've lost the label, so need confirmation.
3. The pcv valve goes to the side of the intake manifold, but I can see nothing that this Tee should be connected to. I have absolutely no idea and the tag fell off during the rebuild. I think this should have been on the driver's side, but there are no unused vacuum hoses there. Any idea?
If that is from an L98 engine the first pic is mounted under the plemem on the driver side front part, you should be able to see where it is mounted. I had a 91 L98 and I had to replace to same tubing. Good luck. :flag
Looking at my 85: Pic 1 is the EGR solenoid. It is positioned just as in your picture and mounts to the intake manifold next to the distributor on the passenger side. The left vac line goes to the EGR valve, the right goes to a tee under the throttle body with one side going to the bottom of the throttle body and the other to the fuel vapor canister. You should find a 2-wire plug there that connects to it. Pic 2: the open elbow plugs onto the rear of two nipples under the rear passenger side of the plenum. The front nipple is for the vac line going to the fuel regulator. The small line runs into a wiring harness behind the engine, the larger rubber hose runs to the vac reservoir behind the fuel vapor canister. Pic 3: neither PCV valve hose has a tee that looks like that. The passenger side connects to the side of the throttle body and the drivers side goes to a larger tee with one side going to the intake manifold and the other going to a steel line going to the fuel vapor canister solenoid (next to the canister). Hope this helps. :chevy

:iagree: I redid a lot of my vacuum lines on my 85 last week, all sounds correct.

Thanks TimV. But can you be a little more specific. I'm having a heck of a time figuring out just how it mounts here. The little angle bracket couldn't possibly go over an intake manifold bolt. There would be no way to tighten it down, even if it went through the bracket. Is there a bolt or something I am missing? Does it mount somehow with the distributor lock-down bolt? Its the mount point thats really throwing me off.
Thanks for everyones help. This is one of the last things and I'll finally be able to start this bad girl up :D
What the heck is it attached to down there :smash:
Is there something special about that manifold bolt? I don't have anything that would allow this to attach to that bolt. Very confused... and fed up :cry
Maybe this will help. See, in the picture, theres the back 2 intake manifold bolts. The bracket on the vacuum switch seems to hover just above these bolts, but I don't see how it could attach. The bolt hole behind there is for the distributor hold-down, not a likely candidate. Anyone have any help to offer?

There is indeed a bracket that fits under those two back manifold bolts. It was one of the things that wasn't labeled and I couldn't see them fitting together until I saw one similar.
