Default Please help me identify these wires

Here is the first one, found under the passenger side dash, disconnected, what is it supposed to be for? (88 Coupe)

Here is the second one, right by the coolant tank, hangs off the horn

Also I am just curious, is replaceing a fusebox easy or near impossible? Mine, besides missing the door is a corroded MESS! I am unsure of an easy way to clean it. ANy suggestions and help identifying the above wires are GREATLY appreciated.

:D

The one off the horn is a ground wire. Looks like he changed horns and the new ones had a different wiring setup.

The one under the dash looks like a vacuum hose. Check it to see if it's hollow.

If it goes to a device with with Tan/Blk, Yel, Grn and Blk wires it is the Air Mix Valve Actuator.

If not, plug it in and see.

I would suggest trying some brake cleaner on the fuse box, with battery disconnected of course. Use a detailer brush to get rid of any debris and let it dry. If it still looks like crap maybe you can get a good used one from Contemporary Corvette (link on my site).

Under the dash hooks to that vacum pot to run heater. Horn ground looks like an add on. I would try electrical contact cleaner on the fuse panel. Its a PITA but you can get most of that apart & use a soft brush to clean things up. Too much plastic to use anything more aggressive. You will find that cleaner at most parts places, there are a couple of brands. Most will stay, removes moisture, cleans contacts, lubricates & seals out future moisture.

good luck!
