Today was a good day, I got a little more familiar with my C4. I finally got a day off and set out to do some of the mods I've been hearing and reading about! All though the mods were pretty simple and standard, these were the first mods done to this bone-stock late 86.
Did the following......
Descreened MAFS
Cut Air Lid (still have AC Delco Air Filer) getting K & N this weekend
Installed 160 T-Stat
Removed & Cleaned Throttle Body
I wanted to do the TB bypass, but wasn't too sure on exactly how, so I just skipped for now, because I only had so much daylight! :banghead:
I also was given a Hypertech Thermo chip for free, I was going to put it in until further work, but I couldn't even find the damn computer. I hate the under passenger dash side! I know just about everybody rags the Hypertech chip, but I hear it helps a little on torque converter lock-up and it works with my 160 Hypertech t-stat, good enough for me for now until I get more mods and really need a cust chip!
Next week I should be getting my muffler eliminators! :D
BTW: Thanks to all that helped me in the middle of this project, I asked for help today in the afternoon, and within 15 minutes there were 3 people to my rescue! You gotta love the forum and it's people!!!
I would love to hear from anybody else on further mods they would recomend!
Just be sure you dont waist your time and money on the $39.99 or any price at that "Air Foiler".... IDC what anyone says, that thing doesnt do crap :smash:

 We haven't had THAT debate on here in a week or two!
I had a hyper? thermomaster in my 86. Too cold here for a 160* so I ran a 180* thermostat. Cant say the car was faster but it did turn the fan on at 180* and I liked that. It also got better gas mileage with the chip. Go for it. Only takes 10 minutes. :chevy
The ECM is just behind the front of the passenger dash. Remove the lower hush panel and the two screws holding the ECM in place and lower the ECM onto the carpet.
Remove the two screws from the Al access panel, release the CalPac and remove it from the ECM. Insert the HyperTech CalPac into position, being sure it's properly aligned and press firmly into the socket, till the release tabs click back into place. Replace the Al access panel, install the ECM under the dash and replace the hush panel.
CAUTION: The ECM is very sensitive to static discharge. Before removing the access panel is removed, touch a metal piece of the car to discharge any built up static electricity and thereafter do not move around on the carpet till after the panel has been replaced.

Thanks for the post and the push. You made me get my damn work light out and get under that dreaded dash and I found the ECM, took it out and installed chip!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It took all but 5 minutes! Now my days to do list is actually all checked off!
