Help...SYS light is flashing
Started up the vette and the "SYS" light started flashing, where the speedometer is displayed. About 3 times, then pauses for about 5-10 seconds, then flashes again, 3 times. Do you think a new battery is needed? It's been over 3 years since a Delco battery was installed. Thanks for you help. :cry

Don't panic... I think I read in the manual that the flashing "SYS" light just indicates that an error code has been set in the computer.
Someone here can tell you how to retrieve that code, and decipher it - depending on the year of your car.

Try disconnecting your battery for a minute, check to see if battery is fully charged-you do have a charger right? if fully charged reconnect battery-it should clear the code unless you have a problem-then you will need to see which code. You can go to http://www.c4vettes.com/ecm.htm to see how to recover codes and what the code means.

To read the CCM codes (OBD I), you need to jump A to G and use the console buttons (ENG/MET etc.) to navigate through the diagnostics. If you jump A to G then turn the ignition on the CCM will go through the modules one by one displaying all the codes, CCM, ECM, and EBTCM. The web site addresses only the ECM codes.

Thanks for all your help. As it turned out, it was the battery. Replaced it with a Optima Redtop. And since I was working on the vette, I replaced the fuel filter. Found out that the filter was pretty clogged up and replacing it fixed the very mild rough idling problem I had. :hurray:
