brake fluid is flamable.
you have the long tubes, but, do you have the precats? they would do it.
my guess? the brake fluid ate up a connector or bared wire. The wire then shorted, catching everything on fire.
The shorts are common on C4s behind the battery.
I'm with Bogus on this. When I took my fenders off and my removed the wheelhoue aprons to do my spark plugs on the Drivers Side, I caught a potential problem. A segment of the wiring harnes rides over the frame rail in the vacintiy where the apron gets fastened to the frame. Mine had agraded the protective sleeve and much of the insulation from most of the wires. I can't beleive nothing had shorted before I caught it.
It is possible that yours was shorting something and there was spillage of brake fluid from that master cylinder. I still think that is definitely a Midas problem. Of course they will try to push the blame on you.
Re: ARGG! My car started on fire! Help. (biggrizzly)
Thank you to everyone on the forum for helping get the car built up and working properly without all the help I wouldn't have been able to get the car anywhere like it was before the fire. While I also believe Midas is to blame, the time, money, and aggrivation involved in persuing the case myself is going to outweight any benifits. So I have decided to take my insurances companies offer of 10250 at the current time, and assuming they get money down the road from Midas will also get my 1000 deductible back. Honestly that is probably what the car would have sold for if I had been in the market.
In the meantime I have my eye on what appears to be a really great 94 with tons of upgrades (LT4, gears, etc) that I will be checkign on in the next week or so. Hopefully I might have a new car pretty soon.
Sad to see it go, but its over my capiblities and time contrants to try to restore the car. I just hope when it goes to the salvage yard someone will get it to put it back into service as a race car or something drivable as opposed to just parting it out.
Well its final, I will be buying forum members car CROOZN!
From the hours of talking to him and all the pictures looks to be a great 94. Will fly down to Louisville on Monday to buy the car. Can't wait. Now I just have to start reading up on the 94, LT4, and some more into ECM programming. Fun stuff.

Yeah, this 94 is awesome. Couldn't be happier with the deal. You'll get to see it with weekend at the AutoX. If you want Steve you can take a run on the Test & Tune on Saturday if your there, since you let me take one last week in your car while I was in Corvette withdrawl :)
