Could this be the Opti...???
Last week backfireing ......timing not advancing?????...i don't know ....unpluged battery for half a day... car ran fine for a week...now last night tried to pull out in trafic quick... the vette said I don't think so......hesitated like...I do when it's time to do the mortage payment......got little funds going to make a guess...need the dianogsic money for repair...
first suspect.......Mr. opti....he has 60,000 mile record..along with hiis accomplice....MS. sparkplug wires........the plugs are clean not a suspect NKG
last questioned 10,000 mile ago.....any thing missing? :beatdeadhorse:

Sure could be.
Are you getting any codes? a dying opti will throw a code 16 - low res signal failure.
I would check the coil and coil wire first...
What year? If its an early opti, and the original, 60k miles is pretty good. Optis can fail from time as much as miles.

IT"S a94.......with 120,000 miles this is the second opti.... :beatdeadhorse:

Have you checked you water pump to see if it's doing its weeping routine. If the water pump has never been replace it could be weeping ever so slightly but just enough do drown the opti.. stick your hands in there to see if you gettin any moisture.

MAN ...I got whats look to be oil sludge on the bottom wires connected to the opti....what now :conehead
