Broke the Temp Sensor During Header Installation?
I broke the plastic connector on the sensor on the driver's side head between the #1 & #3 cylinders. Is this the coolant sensor or what?

GM swapped the position of the gauge sending unit and the fan switch several times. On your 1986, that should be the aux fan switch.

How would I know for sure? Could the dealer tell me or should I just pull the old part & look for a part number?

It's your aux fan sensor for sure; there should be a Grn/Wht wire attached.
The ECM sensor is under the middle of the TB and the gauge sensor is below #6 & #8.
There is a pic in the new MAM catalog on pp. 4.45.

I said, "
should ", only because one never knows what has been done to a 19 year old car. According to my GM, Corvette, parts book, it
IS !

If it has a spade connector it is the temp guage sensor. If it has a mushroom shaped connector it is the aux fan switch.

It's a mushroom-shaped connector.

Fan switch then. I busted mine too. I just shove the pin into the sensor and keep an eye on it. :)
