Water Pump replacement for 94 C4 would appericate any tips or pointers
iam in the process of replacing my water pump on my 94 C4 and i would appericate any tips or pointers from those who have actually done the job themselves. is this job a real PITA?. When unscrewing the spark detonator to drain eng coolant from ths eng block how do i remove the electrical connections attached to them without damaging them ? and must i remove both of them or will removing 1 of them get the job done?

take the knock sensors out to drain the coolant in the block. Try to not leak any coolant on the opti, or you will need a new one. Otherwise its a easy job.

After you drain the coolant out, I would be careful removing the temperature sensor. I broke mine trying to get it off ( Mine froze on) Anyways, I let the gaskets set-up with silicone overnight and put two new "o" rings on the drive pin and a tad of grease on the splines and Wala! your finished (almost) Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Do you know how to burp the air out once you start it back up? If, not I'll IM the process to you. Good Luck :steering:

If I can't talk you into a conversion to an electric coolant pump, I'll give you these tips. 1) replace it with a NEW AC Delco coolant pump. The rebuilts are usually crap and you won't want to do this again, soon. 2) while you are in there, how about replacing your plugs and wires as you'll have excellent space to work around the opti-spark. 3) use the same color coolant as you have in there, I think it's the green stuff. And mix it with distilled water. 4) take a good look at your serp belt, now is the time to replace. 5) how's the hoses look? 6) take a good stroll through the Tools>Tech Tips>C4 and look for Meziere coolant pump install, it might help you out. 7) I also did a tech tip on flushing the coolant system with a home made tool that really works. 8) don't be in a rush.

When putting it back on be careful not to let it get in a bind. Tighten each of the bolts a little at a time going in a criss-cross pattern. I don't know how much you are going to move out of the way but all I removed was the air bridge and the serpentine belt. If I have to do it again I might remove the tensioner pulley, PS pulley just to give a clean view of what is going on in there.
