Any pics? and do u have do modify anything to install......CFI was saying that u needed to drill a hole? Just want to ask ppl who actually have them, not saying you are wrong CFI.
And what gains with 1 3/4(with the Y-pipe), back to a highflow cat, back to a Catback(Mag's, Flow's, Bor's)?
Here's a picture of hooker headers 2149. I am having these ceramic headers and the Y pipe #16720 that I sent you yesturday put on my new 383 this week.
Here's a thread that might help you. 2149 if you want the AIR/Smog/O2 fittings, 2151 if you dont but youll have to have an O2 bung welded into the 2151s.
I have 2151's on Arisa. I realize that we are talking L98 vs LT4 & emission vs non emission headers but.....
I had to turn my engine mount bolts around backwards. Also they were rubbing the tranny tunnel baddly. I'm glad I brought mine in non-coated. Made them alot easier to fix before they were coated !!!!
yes you have to drill the emissions tube that connects to the EGR pipe. I don't have pics and I defenitly don't want to take that apart again...lol it's an easy instal just takes time. It took me about 9 1/2 hours to do by myself.
the main thing to watch for is the y-pipe. I bought the hooker front Y from summit and it was off by 1/2 inch on the driver side. since the vette is my only car I had to run with these. had to find a local shop that could mod the pipe.
also if I had to do it again I'd get some spacer washers to make the stock bolts fit the rear of the header. it would have made life much easier that to 1/4 turn the bolts with a bent wrench.
oh and I read a thread a few months ago on a forum member have heat related problem with headers near the brake booster since it's plastic. I tring to fab a heat shield like the ones for the starts for it.
I have no direct experience with those headers but in general suggest you check:
-fuel line proximity on the passenger side & fab a starter heat shield
-also see if you need a brake booster heat shield
-verify that all accessories bolt up; if not buy or make some stand-offs
I would get them uncoated, install the O2 bung and then send the headers & Y out for coating.
I had to drill the hole, and have the O2 bung moved to the collector. (my car would go full rich trying to get the fuel mix to work out)
They were a queen royal bitch to install from the top (ended up cracking the windshield wiper motor lifting the motor)
Even really good headers are a biyatch to install...it's like trying to thread five bolts on a 25 lb, 25 foot long bar while holding it at one end only. :boxing
Yes you will have to drill a hole. Not a big deal and the fit is good. You will have to watch the motor mount bolt on the driver side. I had to run my from the other way.
i installed them on my vette and the drivers side was easy to put on. passenger side you have to move the little brace out of the way and pull down the starter. but you have to install header and starter at the same time. the hard part is getting the y-pipe to collector to seal good. i used mr gasket header bolts with the allen head hole. they are alot easier to tighten up than the ones that come with the headers. good luck and feel free to ask any questions. thanks, daniel
I use them - no problems. the hole that you have to drill is in the bottom of the EGR tube on the apssenger side. It comes plugged - if you want it open, use a long 1/4" drill. That's all. :flag

:yesnod:
I had to grind down the top corner of the Passanger's side cross brace. The header tube would catch on the corner and not allow it to go up high enough to align the bolt holes to fasten to the cylinder head. After grinding down the corner, it cleared. :yesnod:
