These freakin headers!!!! C4 owners w/headers help
OK, so my 84 Auto I bought last year is giving me attitude.
It has long tube emmision headers(dont know what brand) and it keeps fighting the #6 spark plug wire.
When I bought the car it had Accel 8.8mm wires. #6 header burned through it and I found another broken wire, so I replaced them all with MSD 8mm blue wires(super conductor or something).
Well took it out of storage this year and it ran fine for a day or two. She started to miss again and I noticed the #6 wire(with a straight boot) was arcing again!!!! :mad
What do you guys with headers do to solve this?
I just got a new 90degree small boot and 90degree connector for it. I also got a Kevlar boot cover for it. Put all that on and so far it looks like it will clear.
Just need some ideas in case this doesn't work.
Thanks
BTW I am running Bosch Platinum plugs.

Going to the 90-deg boot was the answer; just make sure our looms keep the wires off the header tubes. BTW, the MSD SuperConductors have 8.5mm red wires with large grey boots.
I have the MSD SuperConductors on the IROC with Edelbrock headers and they work well. One boot is about 1/4" from a header tube and looks like new after 6yrs.

I have high temp cloth wrapped around all of my boots (all boots are 90*, also). I haven't had a problem with any of them burning through, and my heads are straight plug!

Mad Vette also sells stock wire looms that attach to the existing brackets on the valve covers. I had to replace mine on my 84 because they became real brittle and broke when I looked at them - if i sneezed they turned to dust. But for 20 yrs they did well.
