How Much To Rebuild My Engine?
My engine has 121,000 miles. It runs fine,uses no oil. How much should I expect to pay for a rebuild? Of course I want more power! I want a Lingenfelter cam and some mild head work.Im in the Fresno Ca area. (Any top notch mechanics out there who want to make some side money?) How much should it cost and who should I talk to? Thanks

I did that on mine, the engine machine shop charged me like 700, then paid 250 for LPE cam, and 300 for new rings and pistons and rods and bearings. I had crank turned down .10 and had block bored 30 over. I have heads boxed up ready to ship to LPE or somebody. When My orig engine needied replacing I went with zz4 block for a quick fix $3800.00

I want to use my stock block. I can't do any of the work myself. Is it nescessary to have the block bored? For $700,what did the machine shop do for you? As you can guess, I don't know crap about auto mechanics. How much should it totally co$t me?

If you need a shop to R & R the engine for you, you can add at least $800 to the rebuild cost, maybe more depending on the shop. Remember cheap is not always the best way to go when you are talking about a Vette, but find a good shop you trust. Boring the cylinders may be necessary due to wear on the block. The machine shop won't be able to tell if the block needs boring until they pull it apart and check it out. Good Luck with your rebuild
