Default Fan Switch Question

My Helms is at a friend's house - can't get it for few days. I removed the A/C (all underhood components - need to keep interior ducts, etc for class legality) and now the radiator cooling fan is running all the time. Can anyone tell me which wire to cut (i.e., install a toggle switch in so I can force it on if I need it?

Thanks a lot. Paul :flag

Default Re: Fan Switch Question (NavyVet)

Locate the connector that was plugged into A/C pressure switch in the coolant line; it has a Grn wire and jumper that connector or twist the two wires together and tape them.

With that connector open (the switch is a NC configruation) the ECM sees the A/C pressure too high and brings on the main fan.

Indeed you can install a SPST switch between the Grn wire and ground to have manual fan control when the engine is running.

65Z01 - is that the two-wire (black & dark green) switch on the tubing running down into the bottom of the firewall box for the heat exchanger? BTW, it runs when the A/C system is set ot "off." I will try the jumper tonight when I get home if that's the right switch. Thanks a lot. Paul
