Need help with ZF6 installation.
I have old block in my car with 2 piece rear main seal. I need to purchase the clutch for my project and need recommendation for it. I know lots of guys converted to single flywheel and are very knowledgeable in that subject. I can't use the DMFW because of the block othervise I would be all set.
I need to get that going because I still want to race it this year.
Please help

88 White Vette,
I did the ZF swap in my 84 (using my stock 4+3 Flywheel) I also used the LT1\4 clutch set consisting of disc, pressure plate and TO bearing...My ZF was out of a 96 LT4 and had the magnesium bellhousing- Using my thinner FW required me to get a longer throw ZR1 pivot ball stud to allow the clutch fork to release correctly- I also had to use the LT1\4 mini starter with no nose for proper fitment. It works great- though having a 2 piece rear main and the 4+3 FW make gear chatter when not in gear...you get used to it...I also get a little rattle under heavy load conditions..but I am told this is due to not having a dual mass FW and the type of clutch I went with...
Dominic (a CF member) has also done this swap on his 84- he used a custom fidenza FW that was thicker then a 4+3 FW thus not requiring him to go with a longer throw pivot ball stud...he also used a sprung hub clutch set from a newer F-Body that reduced some of the rattle I have in my rig.
Let me know if you need any more info on what I had to do to make it work...
P.S. Best mod I have ever done!

I will e-mail Jeff to see how he did it though.
Mark Bychowski also did single aluminum flywheel on his car and likes it very much, but he had the 6 speed from the begining.
Thanks

Can I use the ZF6 bell housing or do I need bell housing out of 4+3 ?
My ZF6 is from 93 and I would like to use as many parts out of the set up as I can. I am still wondering about the C-beam and the drive shaft, does those also need to be change from the 700R4 set-up or can I used them. I have dana 36 in my car, but that will not be changed for now.
Thanks.

You will have to use the ZF bellhousing- do you have the slip yoke for the ZF as well? you are going to need that...as for the drive shaft and cbeam- your D36 driveshaft will need to have the ZF yoke attached- and the D36 cbeam will be fine...The ZF was hooked to a D44 rear end- the D44 has a longer nose then the D36 so the drive shaft and cbeam were a tad shorter...I reused my 4+3 driveshaft (with the ZF slip yoke) and my stock cbeam...there were no fitment issues...
If you need a FW- I have one from a 4+3 recently cut (out of an 84) got it from Dominic...I have another guy who said he was interested...but have not talked to him in a day or so...I am asking $75 + shipping (depending if the other deal falls thru) it is for a 2 piece rear main seal car...

Do you know what year that F-body was that he got that clutch from?
I want to stay as cheap and stock (OEM) as possible with this conversion.
How much is the new 4+3 fw and the fidenza one?
Thanks for your help.
If I decide to go with the 4+3, I could get the one from you.
