Default Tranny & Differential Fluid?????

I want to change my tranny & rear end fluid. It's a 96 LT1 A/T. What type of fluids should I use? :flag

I'm sure the others will say differently but I use GM diff fluid with their additive ONLY in my diff. As far as the tranny goes I'd just put a good Dextron III approved fluid in it. Make sure to change the filter when you do the tranny & be careful to get the old seal out of the intake where the filter mounts (they like to stay up in there)

:iagree: On the '96 (street, driver, cruiser) :iagree:

The '86 (track car) gets RedLine for the diff.

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF for both the A4 on the '96 and the OD unit on the '86.

What " additive " from GM are you speaking of?

There is a posi-track / limited slip differential additive that can be added to the differential. You need to be careful adding it, since to much can be as bad as not having enough. In fact some fluids specify on the container NOT to add or mix the additive.

Mobil 1 75-90 and 8oz's of LS additive for the backend. Any Dextron III Trans fluid is fine. IMHO if your spending more than 2.50 a quart, your wasting your money for a street driver.
