Hey everyone, Each time I stop since yesterday my ABS comes on. It pulses and the light comes on. It does the testing each time I start going like normal but after that even in traffic when I slow to almost a stop it pulses again. Any thoughts?
I havn't changed anything but I did a search and read that I should top off my brake fluid. I did that and it helped but I still got the light and pulsing once after. Maybe I need still more fluid? Air in the lines? If anyone knows, I'd love to find out. If the fluid fixes it I'll let you guys know.
I have seen this many times on other vehicles, caused by a problem with the reluctor ring. Usually cracked, and the wheel speed signal is lost just long enough that the control module thinks one wheel has locked up and ABS goes active. The crack is small, which is why it is only detected at slow speeds. It is doing what it thinks it's supposed to do so, no trouble codes.
The systems are usually pretty good at picking up a sensor error, but this condition does not present itself to the controller as system fault.
No way to narrow it down w/out a scan tool that can record and plot the sensors info for a given time period. SOOO, Grab a few wrenches, a flashlight and look the reluctor rings over real close.
