Use a small flat-blade screw driver to pry up & remove the button.
With long-nose C-clip plyers, remove the C-clip at the inside bottom of the shift ****.
Slide the **** up and off the shifter shaft.

This one puzzled me for an hour or so when I replaced the clutch on my 1992. In my case, you pop the cap off the top, then that little metal piece that sticks up like it is part of the poopieer, that is a wedge. Pry that up and remove. Then unscrew the ****. :cheers:
