replace the throttle cable. I guess the last few year I must have been laying into it a little too much as it seems to have stretched WAY WAY out of the length. Last year it was bad, and I used spacers to get it right, now its rediculous. WOT is not easy to get anymore.
What all is involved? Damn cars are so hard to get down into where the peddles are to check anything out. Thanks for the help!

:lurk: Yes, nothing down under the dash is fun. You wouldn't believe what I've gone thru to work in that area at my age! Do you know any contortionists?

I would almost remove the drivers seat... give more room under there... or hire a 14 yera old gymnist...
The throttle cable has two spring loaded tabs, ( on the square boss that goes into the firewall, ) that spring outward so the cable stays in the hole, the tabs should be on each side, not on the top and bottom. Pinch them together and the cable will slide out into the engine bay.
Then the accelerator pedal has a slot in the top of it and the steel throttle cable slips into the slot and a palstic end cap snaps into the recess on the accelerator bracket.
The hardest part is pinching the tabs, try and use two very thin pices of steel to collapse the tabs
Just for clarification the tabs are on the firewall side correct?
Also can someone measure there cable showing out at the bracket on the intake. Corky measured his for me and reported back ~3 3/4" and 4" pulled tight. Mine is about 7-9"! This is the bare cable. i am starting to think that someone changed my cable prior to my owning the car, and put the wrong on on it. Either that or my foot is SUPER heavy and its stretched that much!
I think I am going to order a new one today from GM and see what the new one does.
Again the clips are on the motor side of the firewall. I was looking at mine and there is some black RTV or something smeared over it. Is that stock?

Yeah, just scrape off the RTV, thats just to keep heat / air from coming into the cabin.
Yes, the clips are on the motor side,, its not bad really, its just that the clips need to be collapsed, I used a couple of pieces of @ thick .060 steel and pinched them with a pair of channel locks and it came right out.
Thanks a million Larry. I will get one on order. Its going to be one of those things that have bugged me for over 2 years, and I kept putting it on the back burner, only to find out it was a simple fix. :banghead:
Your instructions are a great help and I can visualize exactly what will need done.
