I just finished installing an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, dialed in the pressure and noticed that on shut-down, the pressure immediately went to zero. When I tested in the key on, ignition off position, it started at 30 and went down within seconds to zero.
Do I suspect the fuel pump or is there something else (cheaper) that could be causing this?

Re: fuel pump? (Vett-eight-nine)
Either fuel pump check valve, bad pressure regulator diaphram, or leaky injectors.
Also, if air gets in the lines during maintenance, you'll have to run the car or prime it a few times to purge the air before it will hold pressure at shutdown.
Injectors are new and good. I'd assume the regulator's o.k.
I've been doing a little research and am stumped by what this "sock" is in the fuel pump assembly. Could it be a factor?
Have the same problem with my 85. It is the pump. I replaced injectors and intallled adjustable pressure regulator and changed out diaphram at the same time. Mine bleeds down within less than a minute. There is a check valve on the pump. I was going to replace it with a Walbro but they discontined the lower volume pump. Don't run 300+ HP. I will replace with a "Stock rated" pump. Have all the parts ready to install, just have to make the time. The sock you refere to is actually a filter that attaches to the base of the pump. When you replace the pump, replace this also. The sock will not cause the bleed down.
I tried Racetronix, but was unable to make a good connection with them or their suppliers. One of their suppliers was out of the pumps kits and wouldn't have any for some time. Racetronix puts a kit together with a Walbro pump and their wire harness and connectors. Their known for their wiring harness kit.
You can purchase the pump seperate. Made multiple phone calls to Vet suppliers. Most were too high. $119 for pump. Ended up with local parts dealer that I trust for $79.00 for pump $5.00 for filter. It is the same brand as other Vet suppliers are pushing at $119. Several places I talked to also suggested replacing the pulsator which evens out the flow. This is about $20. I have lots of miles on my 85 so it made more sense to replace these key parts while I have it apart. I think Autozone has pump for$65 or so, but had not heard of brand before. I am willing to spend the money for quality.
I've bought a pump from pep boys for about $60 about a year ago and no problems since. I'm disturbed by everyone saying that they had to purchase the filter seperate when this should have been with the kit like mine was. Maybe the best deals are right around the corner.
Which adj regulator did you install on your vett?
if it is an aeromotive they dump the fuel when you shut off the engine,it is to allow the oil pressure to build before the engine starts.
if it is an excell throw it in the trash ,it will fill your motor with fuel and then you are in trouble. Been their and done that.
