Default Any one know the difference.

Trying to find out the difference between Accel supercoil 14005 and 14003  I have the 14005
AutoNuts say they are the same only the wire colors are different. But for some reason the red/white I have is $10.00 cheaper. Is white wire cheaper then yellow   Should have known better then to even ask them. It's late and I'm desperate :banghead: :banghead:
Thanks :seeya

I believe it's a polarity issue. Accel distinguishes between the wire colors of some of their coils but other companies don't. Since you have an Accel be sure you have the one that matches the pick-up coil.

The ignition coil must match the pickup coil. GM listed that caution in their Shop Manual for the 86; maybe other years as well, but I don't have the manuals for those.

Here's what it says in the Corvette Shop Manual for the 86:

"The color of the pick-up coil connector has to be yellow if one of the ignition coil leads is yellow. If the ignition coil has a white lead, any pick-up coil connector except yellow is OK".

I believe this applies through the 89 model year.

Hope this helps.

Jake

Wrong

The wires are colored different for a reason. JAKE is absolutely correct. :yesnod:

Thanks guys. Gonna tear it down again today. The problem has got to be there. Didn't have it untill I repalced intake runner gaskets and removed the smog stuff. Just keep looking until I find it or a handgrenade :mad
