There is a wire that bolts into the knuckle in the rear. What is this wire and how do you remove? I have removed the bolt that holds the what looks like a sensor, however the thing will not come off. Any help would be appreciated.

Be careful. You are talking about the ABS ( and probably ASR sensor on your car). First thing I would do is see if you can still get replacements for these. (The ones for my 86 are no longer available).
If you do remove the sensor, you need to clean it very good and coat it with dilectric grease before installing. Otherwise you will have corrsion due to dissimilar metal types.
The best thing to do is to just unplug the wire. There should be a small connection attached to the subframe or body.

Unplug harness, remove 10mm(?) screw, then the sensor should pull right out I think. It needs to come out during wheel bearing replacement if I remember (been too long)
