Default FAN TEMP(S) I REPROGRAMMED?? TEMP. ADVICE

Ive been playing around with the temp. settings and would like some advice on proper Water temps.. I live in South Florida to start with!! 95 lt1 , 383 stroker. Installed a 160 stat., large, Be Cool Radiator, and Electric H20 Pump. I programmed my high speed fans to all come on @ 180F, Temps while driving and @ idle are now remaining around 170-175F, with or with out the A.C on. Outside air temp. at this time is in the mid 80's. Am I runnung to cool???? Thanks, Mark

Running a 160 stat, my car averages 174-177* on the highway. Do I think this is too cool, NO WAY. Car runs great at these temps.

Are those your coolant temps or oil temps?

If that were to continue all the time, I would say its a bit too cool. You do still want the oil temps to get a little over 200 this summer. I think they will knowing how hot and humid it gets in the South, but its something you must watch.

If you run those temps, you need to let it run a little longer so that any contaminants get boiled out.

According to Tunercat. The minimum coolant temp to go into closed loop is 140*.

Mike, I got your email, Thanks. I noticed that my High speed fans are coming on @ 180*, but they continue to stay on even @ 170, until I turn off the ignition. Then when I restart the car, they will not turn back on till 180 again. When I went into the program, I just "told" all the fan settings to turn on at 180. Guess I need to go back into the program and spend some time reading each fan selection!!!!! Looks like I got carried away with clicking the mouse! I get so frustrated at stop lights, watching the TEMP. gauge CLIMB!!!!!!! If closed loop is at 140, then I am still safe. Thanks again, :auto:
