Re: Getting an Cryogenics intercooler sprayer (XTwinTurbo)
Im VERY VERY interested in this. I have been thinking about it for my Callaway. But for me I will need to have custom made spray bars b/c of the size and locations of my two intercoolers. Ive noticed NX will do custom spray bars for you, but the Cry02 system only gives you two choices.
Re: Getting an Cryogenics intercooler sprayer (SurfnSun)
this sort of system would be very easy for a DIY. all you need is a solenoid, some hose or braided line, a spray bar made out of pipe and a co2 tank. I had a turbo ranger that I was planning on doing before i got rid of it to get my vette.

Probably very easy to build as a DIY. I choose to buy the kit because of the local sale price. Cost < $500 CDN (~$350 USD) including bottle, mounts, lines, solenoids and IC sprayer. I figure build costs would be about the same or +- $50 which isn't worth the head ache. Also planning to add a purge kit for a little "intimidation" factor (F&F style).
Kit should arrive today or tomorrow. I will post pictures of the step by step including the kit out of the box shortly.
UPDATE:
Kit has arrived. Pictures to come soon but it looks like I may send the sprayer bar back. Not large enough and definitely not worth $100cdn it costs. I'll probably do a write up on how to build your own.
Re: Getting an Cryogenics intercooler sprayer (SurfnSun)
Got new pics of the system. I'll create a new post after I start the install.
As a FYI, I did send the I/C spray bar back since it was too small. I will add a writeup on how to make your own with my next posting. Until then just check out the pictures.
From above image, I'm a little disappointed in the selonoid from DEI (One in middle of Zex kit). Looks a little small compared to the Zex monster (right hand side).
P.S. Please note last picture contains parts from Zex purge kit. This did not come with the Cryonics setup and I ordered it to add a little "intimidation" at the starting line (As if the blower whine wasn't enough).
SurfnSun this type of kit looks to benefit you the most due to the positions of your intercoolers being located above a hot engine. After a hard run how hot to the touch are your intercoolers getting SurfnSun and XTwinTurbo? This will show you how much you have to gain by using a kit like this. I grew up around Porsche turbos and have seen guys put ice bags on top of their intercoolers between runs. How long due you think you will have to spray your intercooler to drop the temperature of the core?

I/C on supercharger doesn't get very hot (at least I can put my hand on it) but I notice a substantial SOTP HP improvement between summer and fall months. I've seen a 80-90 degree drop in temps from my datalogger before and after the I/C install. Further 20-30+ degree change between summer and fall temps.
As for length of spray time, DEI (Cryonics) suggests a 3-5 second spray of CO2 when lined up at the start of a 1/4 mile. I believe this is a good recommendation.
I'm also planning to have a couple seperate Dyno runs as comparision of the CO2 sprayed 3-5 seconds before the run and also with the spray engaged (on) continuously during the run itself. I'm concerned about CO2 dropping the HP when ingested into the motor and would like to see if our cars are impacted by this at all.

Lets just say after several hard blasts, come over and I'll cook your dinner on my car You don't want to touch them.
Don't forget turbos run A LOT hotter than S/Cs do...I honestly think I could pick up at least 40rwhp. When we dynoed my car we took the ambeint air temp above the motor/intercoolers....I can't remember the exact temp but I think it was around or above 170 degrees.
Like above, my car becomes a completely different animal in the fall/winter. When its 50 degrees outside and im cruising the car just becomes rediculous...spinning at 80mph.
Last summer I hardly drove the car b/c living of in FL...don't like all the heat.
Custom spray bar built. Wasn't too difficult but took some stuff I didn't have and had to buy. I.e. Micro / Pin drill bits (1/48" or 1/32") plus collet holder.
Custom sized 12" x 4" to fit my 13.5" x 5" intercooler.
Write-up on how to build your own to follow with complete installation.
I don't know about your purge solenoid idea- Trying to fool people into thinking that you're faster than you are, or have somthing you don't is for people with a big H on the fron oftheir car!
Sorry for the delay for those waiting to see the HP #'s and install pictures.
This install is harder than I first thought and requires a lot more time. Almost at a NOS install level I suspect 10-12 hours to keep the job neat. Working after hours has delayed completion. I expect to have pictures within a week or so.
One of the delays has been electrical wiring as I've decided to run a dedicated circuit (relay controlled) for the solenoids.
For the time being, check out pictures of the sprayer arm and trigger control I built. 2nd push button is for purge. (I think it looks cool in that homemade unibomber way)
P.S. I guess it was a bad idea for me to take on several performance mods at once. Also installing my KBB and Wideband O2 meter at the same time.
