start at the cruise canister on the firewall and trace back.

The main vacuum storage canister is in the left front headlight bucket. Might want to check the nipple there. Bastet44's busted clean off! I had to RTV a new nipple in!!!

The cruise is on the same vac regulator as the hvac stuff, so if you're a/c isn't working right, as if it only wants to blow at low settings even when it's on full blast, it could be an issue with the regulator or the 7 or 8" line that runs to one of the vac ports on the pass side of the intake. If it's just the cruise, check the line that runs from the cruise module to the regulator. A lot of times that regulator cracks at the place where the vac lines go into it. And it's location, right near the driver side of the distributor, makes it really easy to have lines become disconnected.

Can anyone tell me how to attach the vac line that goes into the firewall under the brake booster? I believe it works the release when you apply the brakes but I can't tell if it goes all the way through the firewall or if there is a fitting IN the firewall.

This is how it's setup on the 86.

If you have a manual trans, you have three switches, if yours is an auto you have two.

The manual trans cars have three separate switches: a brake light switch, a clutch switch and a brake pedal switch.

The brake pedal switch has the vacuum line that runs (through the firewall) to it from the cruise control servo (which is mounted above the battery); the clutch switch has an electrical connector.

All you need to do is check that the vacuum hose is connected to the switch and the servo and that it isn't crimped. This vacuum switch allows vacuum to vent from the cruise control system when you step on the brake pedal to allow the engine to return to idle speed quicker.

You may need to adjust the switch(es). All you do is depress the pedals, one at a time and while holding it depressed, push the switch as far forward (toward the firewall) as you can.

Then grab the pedal and pull it as far rearward as you can. Let the pedal go and pull it again, just to make sure. Make sure no more clicks are heard.

As you push the switch forward and, later, pull the pedal rearward, you should hear clicks, which is the sound of the threads on the switches sliding over the collar they pass through.

GM changes these things often that this procedure may be somewhat different on the 91, but I suspect it's the same.

Ken,
I gather that this tranny swap you refer to is the ZF 6 speed conversion in the '85 as you mention CC on an L98. What trans was in there before the swap? If it was the 4+3, what did you do with the power line for the OD Solenoid? Did you just remove the OD Relay? I ask because you may have blown the GUAGES Fuse and I think the CC is on that same fuse. This is off the top of my head as my books are in another location. Just a though, it may be electrical and not vacuum.
