Power Antenna Part II
Guys (gals) .. thanks for all your responses to my initial post. That was Great!
I just wanted to provide some feedback and (hopefully) helpful info. I may be the only one who was confused, but I really got some bad information when I went `parts-shopping' so I wanted to pass on what I learned.
I wanted to try replacing just the power antenna mast and serrated cable as many of you suggested. When I tried to find one, however, I was totally mislead by parts-store `experts', the dealer parts department and even my own mechanic. All these indicated that I could NOT get just the replacement parts I was looking for.
Bottom line: Despite the fact that dealer feedback initially indicated that the part was not available separately, I decided to take a shot and have them special-order a part I thought might be what I wanted.
Eureka !!
Yesterday I got the following for my `92 Cpe. -
GM description = "ANTENNA, ELECTRIC W/O MOTOR"
GM [also AC Delco] Part # 12512900, price $28.64
This includes the Antenna MAST, SERRATED CABLE, CONTACT SPRING, INSTRUCTIONS AND ANTENNA MOUNTING NUT WRENCH.
In other words, since the unit worked but the antenna `stuck', this kit allows me to remove the retaining nut, run the old antenna/cable assembly out and feed the new one in. (I hope!) UpDates as I progress.
Thanks again for the advice.
