I purchased the new bushings for my rear spring. Thing is the bushings(insulators they call them)are of a three rib design. Looking at my old bushings(that are still installed) I see no indication of three ribs. They simply look like big rubber bushings. I don't want to put the new ones in if it is going to drastically make my rideheight higher. Any ideas what may currently be installed?
the 3 ribs are stock. the otherones may be aftermarket
Kinda my thoughts exactly. However I'm guessing that replacing them will lift my azz higher than I want. Using the space between the spring and the knuckle as reference, which would be lower...more space or less space? I believe the lowering kit comes with LONGER bolts, so more space is lower? Still super
The shorter length the bushing(insulator), the lower the car will sit, either on the upper or lower bushing, because either will increase the distance from the knuckle to the spring. More space between the knuckle and spring will lower the car.
I don't know about the "3 rib design" you guys are talking about. Neither my '86, '85 parts car, or '88 had aftermarket bushings(till a month ago) and they all had solid rubber bushings. The stock bushings I've always seen are about 1 1/2" thick, were solid and the only distinguishing feature was the lip that keys into either the spring or knuckle.
