charging problem on a 1989 corvette
I have a 1989 corvette with a blower on it. This set up has been fine for 3 years. Recently, the volts dropped to 11.5 and the abs light came on. I figured it was the altenator. After replacing the problem was still there. I brought it to the local dealer and they thought it was the altenator also. Again, same result. they said that because the altenator was spinning backwards (due to the supercharger) the system will not work. I explained that it has been this way for 3 years with no problems. Any ideas of something else I can check?

The alternator won't cool as well (and die early), but a brand new one should charge just fine. I would check the fusible link between the alternator charging lead and the battery junction box which is behind the battery towards the firewall with about 5 or 6 wires connected to a single bolt.

THat is all that I figured too. The car does not go many miles so I was not worried about the life of the altenator. I will check behind the battery and see if that is it. Thanks for the quick reply. If you think of anything elso let me know!
