'93 LT1 A4: I want to keep the TB as is, ie: no bypass I live in MI and like to drive in Nov.). Is there a way to disconnect the TB without disconnecting the coolant lines? I'm really concerned about getting anything wet on the opti (it was just replaced). Or... can you disconnect the hoses at the T sections (away from the TB)? If I do end up draining the cooling system for this project, how much should I let out? Do I just pour the old coolant back in when I'm done? Do I have to open up the air relief valves?
Thanks,
Ed
Re: Yet another stupid TB question... (eschoendorff)
People in Alaska run the TB bypass. There is no way to completely remove the throttle body from the car without spilling coolant somewhere. Where exactly depends on where you disconnect it. You can disconnect it at the uppper radiator hose and at the heater valve. Then you'll spill coolant but it won't be anywhere near the opti.
