Okay guys I pretty much have an idea of what happened, but I'd like some input. Today I had to move the vette out of its den to do some work. When the work was finished I went to move it back in, and first off I knew something was wrong. The car wouldn't even go into gear, so I had to shut it off, but it into 1st then drive in back in the garage, it barely made it too it didn't want to creep at all, it was grabbing really low. So I'm like WTF is this sh@! :cuss So the ECM gets moved to look at the reservoir, and low and behold, no clutch fluid, not that it holds much at all, but still where did it go?
So I basically traced it from the reservoir to the slave cylinder and no leaks at all. So I'm guessing that it is leaking on the inside of the housing right? Because fluid just doesn't disappear, it has to go somewhere.
I refilled it, pumped it up a couple of times, and went to recheck... it drank all the fluid, refilled again, and pumped it more... level was stable, peddle feels okay. This is not the original slave cylinder mind you I replaced the original (it looked to be) about a year - year and a half ago because it was dripping a lot, and made some nasty smoke from getting on the cat.
Okay, now the question is what should I look for, what should I do next? I do know that fluid + clutch = new clutch. Any insight? I know there are issues with these hydraulic clutches, so I know someone has more experience with this. Thanks a lot in advance
Ohh... one last thought could this have been related in any way to guy at smog shop ridding the hell out of my clutch in reverse backing her up onto the dyno? If so I might have to break my foot of in his fat rear end :boxing
I would think you have something wrong in your hydraulics... duh, I know.
Where is the leakage? At the master? the slave? the hose? My hose blew out last summer... ticked me off, too... I could not reach the bitch to fix it and the damned shop held my car hostage for a week until they got to it... and then charge me full retail for the part. My **** still hurts from that one.
As for the riding... I don't believe that will hurt it... but you never know. The pressure is high in the line... could be. I would try the argument! never know, could get all new hyrdaulics installed!
I know it's a problem with the hydraulics silly :p:
Just it's making me worry since there is NO sign of any leakage anywhere! I went from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder, and no visible leak in between... So it has to be leaking on the inside housing right? Man... Looks like I have some work ahead of me
If your fluid are gonna that fast. I bet yeah your fluild is leaking from the inside under your carpet where your clucth paddle is. That is where my fuild went.

Re: Clutch Issues - Disappearing Fluid (WickedC4)
I agree with Bruce, your master cylinder is leaking through the shaft seal in the firewall connecting to the clutch pedal. I had the same exact thing happen to me. The fluid is going under the carpet. The engine bay side will stay clean while fluid continues to flow into the cockpit and under the carpet until you replace the clutch master cylinder. That is where your fluid is disappearng to. It will get worse fast, so plan on repairing it now.

:iagree:
I was removing the airbag connector under the dash when I realized the carpet was damp under the master cyl shaft. I knew I had a very slow leak since two years ago but did not notice the dampness until this past winter - no smell, no puddles to indicate a leak.
