Any tips or tricks for replacing front brake pads?
The topic title says it all.
I am planning to replace the front pads, possibly as early as this evening. I've done plenty of brakes in the past, including my '74 Corvette, but any tips or tricks are appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff

:iagree:
With a big C-clamp it's s snap.
Replace the caliper pins & c-clips and replacing pad clips is s good idea. Use some anti rattle compound on the backs of the pads. And then just bed em properly.

Make sure to check the condition of the anti rattle clips that go on the bottom of the pads. If they are in bad shape the calipers will clunk around. I just bent mine back to retain the proper tension since they were not too bad.

Be sure to replace the C-clips on the end of the caliper retaining pins. The service manual recommends replacing the pins. I do but I've heard people here on the forum that don't.
Check your brake fluid and if it is cloudy or dark bleed your brakes while you are at it. (Common sense but some people forget it)

Open bleeder screw before pushing fluid back. Pusing dirty fluid and all the junk in caliper back up into the master cylinder is the #1 reason for abs problems!

My tip.. don't use Napa brakes. The stock brakes were way better. What a waste of time and money. Now I still need to buy some real pads, like Hawk HPS or something similar.
