Default NEED HELP...NEW MOTOR!

Hi everyone! First off, I would like to say that this is an awesome site. I've only been lurking for a couple of days and I already want to jump in. Anyways, here's my question...

I recently had a 383 built for me with AFR 210 heads and a fairly aggresive cam. I can only start the car with the MAF disconnected! As soon as the MAF gets connected AND there is air blowing by it, the engine dies. I can leave the MAF connected and place it off to the side and the car will start as well. It is only when it has air passing by it that it kills the motor. I am at a loss since I figured air passing by the MAF would create a richer condition?!? The EPROM chip that is in the car right now was made for a 350 ci engine I had. I'm guessing the computer is confused as hell after the motor swap. I'm also guessing that someone on the site may have a similar configuration that would like to earn some $$ making me a chip. PLEASE HELP!! I NEED TO DRIVE IT!

Talk to forum member ski_dwn_it for help with your chip, otherwise there are commercial outfits that can also do your tune such as FASTCHIP.COM or PCMFORLESS.COM or the Formato's down in FL. Jesse will be cheaper than all of those guys.

Good luck,

Ron

if that chip worked on the previous engine, it's not a tuning issue. when you have a maf, the engine isn't confused by differences in airflow at all. that's precisely the point to a maf!

you might have a wiring problem, something that happened during the swap. or the maf sensor might be damaged. if you hook it up, turn on the ignition, and check for codes, do you get anything?
