I've been thinking of dropping in a 383. I've looked at the LPE site and $14,000 is a little out of my reach but LPE tunes, installs, and gives you a warranty...
Save yourself a headache. If you reallly want it done right the first time, you want a turn-key solution and you can afford it go to LPE. Any shop can screw up but with LPE you have their reputation and the warranty just in case.

It would cost $4000.00 to $6000.00 just to ship the car to the states and back to germany... I was thinking of contacting Callaway. They build the motors in the states and I could have the callaway shop in germany install it. I would only have to ship a motor and air frieght is $400 to $600 for a motor.
Scoggin Dickey makes an outstanding one with Callies Racemaster crank, Lunati rods, JE pistons, etc. Give them a call or check them out by clicking here

Well, even with LPE, you don't get the 2yr/24K mi warranty unless they install the engine in your car. To make it a catch-22, they don't take in any cars older than 1992. So, further down the thread it sounded like he had an 86 car which wouldn't apply. Therefore, the warranty on the LPE motor is 90 days.

I didn't realize you were planning on having it down while you are over there.
Who's going to do the tune if you go with a 'crate'?
---and I thought I had problems finding someone who could burn a chip for my 86--- :smash: :smash: :smash:
There are a few places that can tune the car... Or I can read up on tuning and buy a Wide band 02 setup and tune the car that way. Should be fun. Callaway has a shop in germany and they could tune the car.
