im looking to get some stainless braided hose to mount a pressure gauge between my throttle bodies on my 84.... anyone know what the thread sizes are on the TB's so i get the right hose? thanks
There is a recent post on the crossfire forum about this. It has all the info you need. I think 'elkabong' is the member you will want to search on.
Ben.
One of the forum members posted a picture a month or so ago. It very well may have been elkabong. It looks like it ought to do a good job, but it was quite a "rats nest" of stainless hose and red and blue fittings. He probably has as much money wrapped up in that set up as I have in all my mods, altogether. I simply sectioned an inch or so out of the line that runs between the TBs and installed a tee fitting. I have a Shrader valve screwed into the tee. Now I can check fuel pressure at any time, just the the bigger TPI boys. That includes while making a run throught the 1/4 mile.
didnt think of that. how did u seal the tube ends into the T? thanks
The tee I bought was for a 45* inverted flare fitting at two positions. Besides the tee, I had to buy two 45* inverted flare fitting nuts. That is the same connection at the TBs. I double flared the tubing ends where I cut it, and screwed both ends in to the tee. Install the nuts on to the tubing before you flare it. The tee I selected had a 1/8th inch pipe thread for the third hole. I screwed in a $5.00 tire pressure valve to complete the set up. I'm sure I don't have $15.00, total invested.
Its your car, but permanently mounted mechanical fuel pressure gauges in the engine bay scare the hell out of me. If it ever fails from the constant jarring of the suspension you'll have a firey mess and won't know it has failed until its too late.

thank you for the info. i might just get the hose ends and a T, and make a simple hose just to use when the air cleaner is off. i couldnt test the pressure under full load, but i wouldnt need all those angles.
