Found a convertible top on E-bay for $75 and the guy even lives in the same town as I do. Is there anything I should know before purchasing? Where can I buy a video or manual to guide me through installation? The top is the cheap grade 2 replacement, but for $75, it seems like I'm still getting a great deal. Besides, the top on my roadster spends the vast majority of the time down. Any hints or info are appreciated. This forum never lets anyone down.
The only advice I can give you is that it is quite a bit of work to install a top. Not hard, just take your time. However, I must add, that the fit of the top is critical to the outcome. Also make sure you get all the old glue off!
It is not the sort of job I would want to do periodically, so I suggest getting the best quality top you can. Besides, you will find that you need to replace quite a few peices of weather strips to successfully install a top. The weatherstrip will definately cost you more than $75. So don't short change yourself with a cheap top!
There used to be a video that really helped me work thru this. I highly recommend it. Used to be sold thru John's Corvettes' Interiors I believe, but I think they went out of business.
