Had to raise it a little bit just like you said. The runners were obstructed between the manifold bolts and the fuel rail.
Curious if you have SLP runners. If so, the runner closest to the driver, does it have a light belt sanded flat at the top? Or was this done by the previous owner? Wondering if it was to prevent abrasion to the throttle cable near the firewall.
I used the slp runners from 1993-1998. I ran out to garage cabinet to look. I bought mine new and they do have that same spot ground a bit. I assume for the reason you mentioned.
I just sandblasted and painted these a Chevy truck charcoal metallic color, they look like magnesium now. Didn't want to spend the rest of my life polishing these castings to make them look good.
After painting I noticed the belt sending on the one runner. Thanks for verifying it was a factory deal.
By the way, my second choice was Chevy orange, but didn't want to look too "in your face". The magnesium look is more subtle, think it will grow on me.
