Ok, I have taken the instrument panel out of the car. I have not put a volt meter on the wires yet, but that is my next step. What I am needing to know is where is the ground wire grounded at under the dash? It looks like a rats nest under my hush panel, and I have had a hard time looking for it. Next question-- is there anywhere in the DFW area that I can put the digital cluster on a tester to see if there's something wrong with it or if its just the wiring from the outside. I'm just trying to narrow down the problem. :(
It's a black/white striped wire which goes to tha ambient over-ride sensor, then to the bulkhead connector to cavity B1 to the engine harness wire to the left rear of the engine. The ambient sensor is bolted or screwed to the wire harness under the dash where it goes through the bulk head, it's about the size of a dime and 1/2 inch thick with 2 terminals-you can splice into the black/white wire and ground it in the engine compartment. Don't worry about the sensor-this won't affect it.When Corvette services rebuild or repair clusters they solder wires to connect all grounds together in the cluster-kinda a fail safe approach. Good luck and next time post the year please. ;)
