Re: Code 28, 32...explain in lamen terms? (MPforUSMC)
Code 32...
There are a number of precise conditions that must occur to set a code 32. I don't remember all of them but one of them is that you must sustain a steady RPM for a certain amount of time and that RPM must be above 1500. This accounts for you noticing the light coming on "at highway speeds".
But as the book says, "The most common cause of a code 32 being set is a malfunctioning EGR switch."

This is starting to sound familiar to me, it was an ECM in the end for me. Did you get the check code at the beginning. I think it is code 12. Also, check the CCM codes.

I got a code 12, but the manual says that just means its in diagnostic mode. Im guesing the best thing to do is just take it to the shop and have them inspect it. I think this is beyond my abaility to do my self
Re: Code 28, 32...explain in lamen terms? (MPforUSMC)
ok... code 32... easy. It is not the solinoid or switch... it is the valve itself.
you see, for a code to be set, the computer has to get the error. As it stand, the code 32 will set on startup if the solenoid or switch fails the start test. if it waits, then the failure is with the valve itself.
as for the 28... fix the 32 first and see if the 28 goes away. reset the computer (unplug the fuse or disconnect the battery for about a minute) and see if any lights come back on.
the 28 could be a stored code from long ago... and not representitive of a real problem.
