Default rear diff lube?

I have 109k on the car and haven't changed to rear diff lube. I know what you're thinking it's on my list of things to do this spring. anyways I have a friends who sells amsoil and I was going to get some but his mechanic said since I have so many miles on it to just replace with GM lube.
is this correct?

I've had this done before, I went GM. There's an additive you'll need to get for the diff. It''s required for GM differentials.

 Doubtfull that it would hurt to put in the Amzoil ( I use it), but standard Dino fluid is fine also.

As was mentioned, the GM Lube additive is a good idea to maintain the limited slip clutches. But here again, if you have gone this long....

:iagree: Some guys use 2 bottles of the additive. With the time and milage on yours, it might be a good idea.

I don't think it matters what gear lube, as long as it's evenly or over the minimum rating. Amzoil should be able to tell you if it's equivalent to or greater than the standard minimum rating (for GM use), it's usually printed on the product container.
