Default Lost one cylinder

Took my 383 down the track yesterday and as it turns out, I've lost a cylinder. It's not firing. The header pipe stays stone cold until the engine heats up enough to transfer heat to it. Last time this happened(100 miles ago) I replaced the plug and wire and it got a little better. I ended up finding a pushrod had come off on that cylinder, so I replaced it and the lifter. That fixed the problem until I went down the strip yesterday. The same cylinder this time. But the pushrods/rockers are all where they are supposed to be. What should I look for? I figure the pushrod came off last time due to something else, so what compnents can cause the loss of one cylinder. I tested the injector, it has continuity and a 12.3 resistance measurement just like the other seven. Fuel pressure is fine and I just put in a new filter/pump. Both the plugs and wires have less than 2k miles.

I figure(plug, wire, valves, injector).

Also, are there any other test I can do with the injector other than continuity and resistance?

What is the "something else" that you think caused the pushrod to come off the first time?

I don't know. I am thinking that something else caused, but not for sure. It is doing the same thing this time as it did when that happened, except the pushrod did not come off this time so it seems to reason that it was not the original problem. Guess I'll be pulling the valve covers again.

Any ideas on injector testing?

Is this on a 93 with opti?

(I can't recall right now if 93 is batch fire)

What cylinder is it?
Back to basics.
Take it's plug out and have someone turn the engine over. Place finger over open plug hole. Have compression? Put the plug in the end of the plug wire. Lay the plug on the motor so it is touching the metal part of the plug. Engine running, is there spark jumping the gap on the plug? (can do this in the dark if like)
Do you smell any fuel coming out of the hole? Any actual moist fuel being compressed out while engine cranking?

93 yes, opti yes. batch fire, yes. It's the front/drivers side cylinder, I think it's #1, I always forget the numbering, it's the one on the left(#1 or #2).

I'll try what you mentioned below and get back to you.

Well then, I tested everything and got frustrated and pulled the valve cover again. I have a pushrod bent from hell, the same one that fell off last time. argg.

I'm going to create a new post to better reflect the nature of the problem so please ignore this one now. Thanks.
