Default 4pt rollbar owners

Can you try something for me?

Can you take the roof off, lay it on top of the rollbar and see if the hatch will shut?

I took my roof off and put it in different locations with the hatch shut. It looks like there should be enough room. If so some custom mounts can then be made to hold the top securely in place.

Thanks.

Same as I posted in the other thread:

No problem. I have been wanting to try that for some time now. I got the glass top out of the basement and tried it out.
Putting it in as normal, front of glass facing rear, and locked into the "post" you would normally use. It will fit. The rear of the glass will lay on the donw bars. BUT, tha hatch hits the "rain" guards on the sides, the open/close struts are what are actually being hit.

If I rotate the top, so the front of it is facing front, the front of the glass lays on the down bars, but the back lays on the speaker grills.
I took a pic, not real good in the garage but I can't seem to upload it right now. I could e-mail it.

Hope that helps.

likewise repost for other thread:

Thanks!
That could work out.
I could used the stock speaker grill screw holes.
If you can email me the pic I'd appreciate it.
I'll also post it on the forum.

Here's the pic he sent me:

from the follow-up message it needs to be turned around.

The idea so far is to make a univeral tube mount, since santioning bodies specify the diameter of the tubing. Something based on this

The stock mounts can then be relocated down by the speakers.

Yikes, I wonder what rearward visibility (or lack thereof) would be like. :D

Scorp, have you ever driven a car with a 4pt rollbar in it?
Use your side mirrors.

:yesnod:, and the center bar just cleared enough so you could use the rear view mirror.

Use your side mirrors.
Hello blindspot. :)

No worse than the stock location.

With my dark top stored, the rear view is block by the reflection.

If your that concerned about rear visability, leave the roof on.

Have you got another way to store a top with a 4pt rollbar?

Jesus :chill:. I was merely making a comment; thats all. If you search the archives you'll see posts of my own saying that when it is time to put a bar in my car I plan on doing the same thing.

I can tell you with the autopower bar (I think mine is 2.75"), I can't see squat out the front mirror... but that's ok, what's behind me is not important (Raul Julia from Cannonball Run). :D

I have the autopower bar and I hate it for rear visability.
I outright, downright hate NOT being able to see out the back window.
