hello everyone
does anyone in Hawaii(Ohau) area know of a respectable shop where they do transmission work? A friend of mine is taking care of my 89' auto coupe and it's been sitting for a while. It leaked a lot of fluid. It use to leak a bit from the tail shaft when I was driving it but I quess it's worst now. Any inputs would very helpful. Thanks all.
One possibility -- do you have a shop that does good work on engines that can recommend a tranny shop? I've had very good luck going that route since the shop that does the recommending usually knows that they will upset you if they make a bad referral.
Hey dude, a little seepage from the tailshaft isnt a big deal. It depends on how long your car sat without being started and in put in gear as to whether you have a real leakage problem. If your car sits for several weeks, it is likely that the torque converter will burp back and over fill the reseviour. If it burps back enough, it will take a dump. I have seen all kinds of trans do this, ford chevy, new, used, rebuilt. I have a thunderbird that you could mark the calender as to when it would dump. I would have to hurry out and start it and pull it in gear to pump up the torque converter to prevent this. This unfortunately is normal. Some transmissions don't do it but many do and the main cure is drive your car more often.
