The best way to change it is to upgrade to the later style regulator.

This tech tip will show you how to get in there, whether you're swapping just the ribbon, or upgrading.. :thumbs:

I wouldn't replace with another ribbon. I did that the first time, and the replacement ribbon lasted all of 3 days before it snapped too. Buy the upgraded regulator and be done with it.

The ribbon is just a PITA. Save yourself the effort of having to go in to the door twice. Make the switch to the upgraded regulator. You'll be glad you did.
