Default Ignition positive wire????? Heated O2 Question!

Ok I have read all of the archive and I am trying to install Heated O2 sensors. I see that most people have done this with the Fuel Pump Relay. On my 92 I'm pretty sure the relay is under the passenger side dash. These are the little boxes which I cant see the wires going into them. Is this correct? I have already screwed this up and blown some fuses. I am a big kitty when it comes to wiring. :cry

Also heard about the windshield wiper motor and the CAGS solonoid. Anythruth to this? I would much rather tap into a line in the engine coimpartment than in the dashboard. Help!!

I've had mine connected to the windshield wiper motor for a couple of years now with no problem.

I opted not to tie into voltage from either the fuel system or the ignition system.

There's a couple of ways to do this. One is as Jake suggests, find a switched (only hot when ignition is on) power source and use that directly to power the 02 sensor, or use a relay and a separate 12v source for the 02 sensor.

I opted for the second approach, because I didn't want to overload an existing circuit. Using the wiper motor power is a good source since that line has no other draw on it unless its raining and your using the wipers.

I ran a separate relay triggered off the fuel pump relay. This way the 02 sensor is only hot when the car is running not simply having the ignition on. I always over think this stuff

I just tapped the wire from the ECM that controls the fuel pump relay as it comes straight from the ECM. Let me figure out exactly which wire it is........

Find wire #7 on the brown connector of your ECM. It's a green wire with white tracer. Be carefuel because wire #8 is also green and white but it's the VSS output.

Tap wire number 7 and run it over to your own relay.

You've got IM. I thought that drawing might be handy for other people who are interested, so I'll post it here..

Please ignore the fact that nothing is to scale and it doesn't have proper electrical symbols, it was drawn very quickly.
