Default '85 antennae motor removal

I've looked at the tech tips and archives, but is there a good write-up or any tips that cover '85s? I can't get the antennae to go down, and I don't want to break anything. Thanks

I don't understand for sure what you are asking? I purchased a Chilton's manual for my 1986 and was able to remove the antannae and motor with little trouble through the rear wheel well.

Basically you unplug the antennae directly underneith the carpet and behind the drivers side, rear speaker and unplug from the relay under the carpet near the left center rear of hatch (up high near trim). Trim and rails need to be removed to get to the plugs. Then after removing the wheel and dust skirt (requires torx bit), you just unplug and unscrew the antennae. My antennae was stuck up also, but was able to manuever it out with little trouble.

The only problem I ran into is that I could not find a replacement antennae that was original. The local dealer that kind of specializes in Corvettes was not able to get one. They told me I would have to by non-original and re-wire. So that is what I did. This was a pain, largely because I do not know anything about how to do this. Had to feel my way through it basically.

I recommend buying a Chilton's Repair Manual if you need detailed directions. You will still have to do some searching to find the exact locations of the plugs, but it will get you in the right direction.
