Ditto to the above-take out some timing....and yes you'll need a cat...
I take it you've nuked the air inj to feed a cat and the egr?? I've kept mine in and with just pulling some timing I manage to pass the not so great state of Calif! (Along with a file full of eo#s) If you have enough overlap, that will help make up for lack of egr-but then up the hc-so back to need a cat.
